Biography

Aften M. Grant is a 2004 graduate (Summa Cum Laude) of the University of Mary, Bismarck, North Dakota, where she received a Bachelor of Science in psychology.  In 2006, Aften received a Master of Arts in counseling psychology from the University of North Dakota, Grand Forks, ND.  While in her master’s program, Aften trained to become a marriage and family therapist.  In 2009, after deciding she wanted to become an advocate for individual clients and their rights, Aften applied and was admitted to the University of North Dakota School of Law.  She graduated in 2012.  Aften is licensed to practice law in the United States Federal District Court of North Dakota, North Dakota State Courts and the Three Affiliated Tribal Court; she has nearly 10 years of courtroom experience.

For her first several years as an attorney, Aften primarily practiced criminal defense and family law.  Since joining the McGee Law Firm on February 1, 2015, Aften has concentrated exclusively on family law, where her education and skill set is best utilized.  Aften routinely handles divorces, legal separations, custody disputes, guardianships, nonparent custody and visitation cases, foster care and stepparent adoptions, child support matters, disorderly conduct and domestic violence restraining orders and a variety of civil post-judgment disputes including, but not limited to, contempt.

Aften and her husband, fellow partner Erich M. Grant, live in Minot with their three children and terrier.  When they aren’t working, Aften and Erich enjoy traveling and spending time outdoors.

Rheider W. McCormick

Biography

Rheider W. McCormick graduated from the University of North Dakota School of Law after graduating Summa Cum Laude from Minnesota State University Moorhead majoring in Political Science. Rheider lived on the Minot Air Force Base for ten years before graduating from Minot High. Before law school, Rheider worked at the State’s Attorney’s Office in Pennington County, Rapid City. During his time in law school, Rheider worked at the Federal Public Defender’s Office in Bismarck before accepting a law clerk position at a law firm in Grand Forks working on cases dealing in Criminal Defense, Business Law, and Real Estate Transactions.

Rheider focuses his legal practice on Insurance Defense, Criminal Defense, Family Law, Personal Injury, Wrongful Death, Oil and Gas Litigation, Product Liability, and Business Litigation.

Biography

Robert Will grew up on a ranch/farm in rural Elgin, North Dakota where he graduated from Elgin High School in 1990.  For his first two years of undergraduate he attended the University of Wyoming and for his final two years he attended the University of North Dakota.  Robert graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree, majoring in Political Science and Sociology, from the University of North Dakota in 1994.  He attended the School of Law at the University of North and graduated with his Juris Doctorate in 1997.

Robert became licensed to practice law in the States of North Dakota and Minnesota.  In the Spring of 1997, Robert became employed with Legal Services of North Dakota and a Minot law office.  He continued to be employed with Legal Services of North Dakota for fifteen years, working in both the New Town and Minot locations.  At the same time, Robert operated his own law office in Minot in an office share arrangement with several different attorneys over the years.  Prior to joining the McGee, Hankla Backes Law Firm, Robert was a succesful sole practitioner.

Over the past 20 plus years, Robert has developed expertise in the areas of Family Law and Bankruptcy.  Being in office share arrangements and being a sole practitioner has also led to handling cases in several different areas of law besides family law and bankruptcy, such as personal injury, estate, Tribal law, and real property transactions cases.  Robert has appeared in State District Court, North Dakota Supreme Court, Federal District Court, Eighth Circuit Federal Appeals Court, Fort Berthold Tribal Court, Northern Plains Intertribal Court of Appeals, and Social Security administrative hearings.

During his time away from work, Robert enjoys spending time with his family.  Robert and his wife, Jenn, have three beautiful children. He is an avid sports fan.  He has over the years enjoyed coaching and running his children around to their sports activities.
